One among Indian Theatre's foremost men, Alyque Padamsee, passed away earlier today. He was 90 years old.

There are many feats that Mr. Padamsee was known for in theatre and in advertising but his passion for the former was something to reckon with. He was a man of the theatre in every sense of the word.

With Shakespeare especially, he had an enduring relationship, and he was keen that the playwright be appreciated by younger generations.

He will be remembered, especially by the theatre community in Mumbai, where he nurtured grand theatre visions for English theatre.
