The Muzaffarnagar riots have been described as "the worst violence in Uttar Pradesh in recent history. The film 'En Dino Muzaffarnagar' is an investigative documentary on the riots of Muzaffarnagar and its socio-political outfall. It is about the violence committed on one section of the society by the other. It investigates these acts of violence before, during and after the riots focusing on the role played by leaders of right wing political parties. It tells stories of sanity too, where the Jats have helped Muslims and vice-versa. It talks about the ongoing sugar cane agitation and the impact the riot had on it, giving the mill owners leverage due to the split in the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU).

However, the film ends with a sense of "life moves on" with the victims trying to build a new life in the resettlement colony.
