Mumbai's theatre community is gearing up for the Bhavan's Giresh Desai Bhausaheb Open Hindi One Act Play Competition 2025, a festival dedicated to celebrating the legacy of Giresh Desai, fondly known as ‘Bhausaheb'. A revered figure in Gujarati theatre, Desai's contributions as an actor, director, and mentor have left an indelible mark on the world of performing arts.

In honour of his immense contribution, his former students, in collaboration with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, initiated this prestigious one-act play competition in 2003. Over the years, the festival has become a significant platform for emerging theatre artists, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their talent and creativity.
This year, the much-anticipated festival will commence with the elimination round on March 27, 2025, where multiple teams will compete to secure a place in the final round. The grand finale is scheduled for April 1, 2025, where the best performances will be staged before an esteemed panel of judges.
