Noted actors, who have been Vijaya Mehta's students in the past, will be participating in the programme and these include Vikram Gokhale, Neena Kulkarni, Vijay Kenkre, Meena Naik, Ajit Bhure and Ashwini Ekbote.

Vijaya Mehta will introduce and demonstrate her beliefs and methods of training for today's theatre's practitioners. In each session, twenty participants will work with her in the presence of observers comprising leading actors from theatre, television and cinema. Each session will end with a question and answer segment where observers can interact. The workshop will focus on actors but will also be of great value to directors as Vijaya Mehta will explore the critical area of 'handling the actors'.

Initially trained by Ebrahim Alkazi, Vijaya Mehta studied actor training methods in Europe and in the USA. She was among the first directors from India to work on international theatre projects. She has influenced the teaching methods at the National School of Drama, where she was Chairperson for four years. She has worked closely over many years with leading playwrights like Vijay Tendulkar, Jaywant Dalvi, Mahesh Elkunchwar and Vasant Kanitkar whose work she has directed. Her proteges include Nana Patekar, Vikram Gokhale, Neena Kulkarni, Pratima Kulkarni, Suhas Joshi, Bharati Achrekar and many others.

She is the recipient of several national and international awards.
