Surekha Sikri..RIP Theate, film and theatre actress, Surekha Sikri passed away of cardiac arrest at the age of 76. A graduate of the National School of Drama in 1971, she worked with the NSD Repertory for a decade and was a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for theatre in 1989,

Sikri excelled in cinema and television too, winning awards for her work in both mediums. The current generation would remember her as the grandmother in long-running serial Balika Vadhu, and in the hit film, Badhaai Ho, but her intensity and the ability to inhabit any role with ease, came from her theatre training. At the NSD, she did plays like THE TROJAN WOMEN, SANDHYA CHHAYA, TUGHLAQ, ADHE ADHURE, LOOK BACK IN ANGER and PARINDON KI MEHFIL. She did a limited number of projects, but left an indelible mark on everything she did.

The industry mourns her loss. Twitter was full of condolence tweets from co-stars.
