The Indian theatre landscape is set to witness the beginning of something truly special with the launch of the Shreeram Lagoo National Theatre Festival 2026-a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Dr. Shreeram Lagoo. Marking its very first edition, the festival promises a rich confluence of stories, voices, and artistic expressions from across the country.
Scheduled from 25th to 31st May 2026, the festival brings together an exciting lineup of performances that reflect the diversity and depth of contemporary Indian theatre. Each day features a unique production, offering audiences a journey through varied narratives, styles, and cultural perspectives.
The festival opens on 25th May with RAGHUNATH by Avakash-Abhimukh from Assam, setting the tone for a week of compelling storytelling. This is followed by NAAM MEIN KA RAKHWO HAI? by Jubilee Theatre Foundation, Maharashtra, on 26th May, and DO YOU KNOW THIS SONG? by Mallika Taneja, Delhi, on 27th May-each piece bringing its own distinctive voice to the stage.
On 28th May, EDEN CREEK, BENGAL by Poor Box Production and Picture Perfect Productions explores layered narratives, while 29th May presents the classic THE ZOO STORY by Panchkosi, Delhi. The festival continues with SHYOK by Bhushan Sanjay Patil on 30th May, leading into a powerful double bill on 31st May-HOME IN A SUITCASE by The Creative Arts, West Bengal, and APNE GHAR JAISA by Ranga Shankara, Karnataka.
