THE NEIGHBOUR'S GRIEF IS GREENER

Director: Emauella Amichai (Israel)

THE NEIGHBOURS GRIEF IS GREENER
THE NEIGHBOUR'S GRIEF IS GREENER

It didn't take long to be absorbed in this production from Israel after the introductory bureaucratic spiel of India-Israel relations. A false alarm for the production we were about to see and not the best start to a show that is provocative in its depiction of the lives of suburban housewives, their domestic charades and the tug of war for the limited power they may wield. The domestic setting alternates between scenes of blood and disarray to the more lighter and funny ones such as when a housewife attempts to grow hair on her bald husband's head. Extreme and absurd in turn, this Israeli production startles with its imagery.
