THERATRE ACADEMY

Theatre Academy, Pune

It is a nonprofit making theatre organization established in 1973 by theatre artists like Jabbar Patel, Satish Alekar, Chandrakant Kale, Mohan Agashe, Ramesh Medhekar and several others. The organization is mostly known for original Marathi productions of plays like Ghashiram Kotwal (1972) Mahanirvan (1974), Mahapoor (1975), Begum Barve (1979), Jalali Tuzi Preet and so on. During last 35 years the group gave away more than 2000 shows of about 45 plays in India and abroad. Since 1973, several well-known directs, playwrights, actors, singers, music directors like Jabbar Patel, Satish Alekar, Mohan Agashe, Ramesh Medhekar, Kalpana Deolankar, Madhuri Purandare, Chandrakant Kale, Mohan Gokhale, Ravindra Sathe, Anand Modak, Shrirang Godbole, Prasad Purandare, Rahul Ranade and many others, have started their currier with Theatre Academy. Presently Theatre Academy is headed by Prasad Purandare as the honorary President.
