Theatre enthusiasts are in for a special experience as Rang Smaran, an insightful initiative by Natarang Pratishthan, returns this September. This unique series aims to document the oral history of India's vibrant theatre movement by capturing memories, experiences, and contributions of theatre groups that have shaped the cultural landscape in post-independence India.

This year's edition of Rang Smaran focuses on four iconic theatre groups from across the country - Darpan from Uttar Pradesh, Vivechna from Madhya Pradesh, Anukriti from Miranda House, Delhi, and The Players from Kirorimal College, Delhi. The event is being presented in two parts - an online session followed by live interactions, offering both virtual access and in-person engagement for theatre lovers.

The online sessions were successfully held on 11th and 12th September 2025, where participants from the groups shared their journeys, challenges, and triumphs in shaping theatre culture.

The second phase will bring the conversation to life at the Sahitya Akademi Auditorium, Rabindra Bhawan, Mandi House, where audiences will engage directly with theatre veterans. On 16th September 2025, members of Anukriti including Syeda Hameed, Anuradha Kapur, Hema Singh, Shraddha Singh, Priyanka Sharma, and Renu Arora will share their experiences. On 17th September 2025, The Players will take the stage with speakers like Keval Arora, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Vijay Krishna Acharya, Amitesh Grover, Mallika Taneja, Imran Khan, and Shalini Baxi.

Each session begins at 6 PM, inviting theatre lovers, students, and researchers to explore the legacy, creativity, and passion that define India’s theatre journey. Rang Smaran promises to be a remarkable celebration of memory, performance, and storytelling.
