Om Katare is one of Hindi theatreТs most well known faces. Having founded Yatri in 1979, Yatri and Om Katare have come a very long way. Yatri was formed with the sole intention of promoting Hindi theatre. Yatri recently completed 25 years of its existence. After 50 full length plays in Hindi and 3500 shows, Om Katare has directed his first English play УChor ChorФ, which was a part of the WritersТ Bloc festival. Some of his best plays include Ek Tha Gadha, Sakharam Binder, Purush, Savita Damodar Paranjape, Junglee Kabootar Dilli Uncha Sunti Hai, Hadh Katdi Aapne, Kaal Chakra, Nakchadhi and Chhoomantar. At present, seven plays directed by Om Katare are running across theatres in Mumbai. Just for the record, Om Katare has conducted 20 workshops for adults and children. He has also trained 700 aspiring actors. Om Katare wishes to set up a theatre academy. He also plans to direct a large-scale play next year. HereТs wishing him all the best!!!
