Clowns without borders Sweden (CWB-SE) and Red Nose Entertainment (RNE) have collaborated again for the second edition of the Laughter Festival of India. The objective of the initiative is two-fold.

The first is to promote the art form of clowning in India, and the second is to use this art form as a tool to provide psychosocial aid. In simple words: release emotional/ physical stress through laughter to the less fortunate children/people in India.

The idea has been conceived and executed by Rupesh Tillu, who is a part of CWB-SE for the past 10 years and a founder of Red Nose Entertainment. Over the last 8 years, CWB-SE and RNE have been working with children of sex workers in Kamatipura, Mumbai, by using theatre and clowning as a powerful tool in their context. This 'Laughter Per Kilometre' initiative has created 5 unique clown ensembles last year which toured five metro cities of India and made about 18000 less fortunate children laugh.

The Laughter Festival of India is a two day showcase of the work created by international clown directors together with some interesting talks. The festival will give local audience and artists a peek into clowning as an art form. This edition has been planned in collaboration with Empty Spaces, Mumbai.

Venue :Empty Spaces, Bungalow No 190, Aram Nagar Part 2, Versova, Andheri (W), Mumbai – 400061.
