A landmark moment for Marathi theatre has arrived as the acclaimed play 'BHUMIKA' has been officially included in the Third Year Bachelor of Arts (TYBA) curriculum of University of Mumbai. This recognition marks a proud achievement for contemporary Marathi theatre and highlights the growing academic importance of modern Indian stage productions.

Written by Kshitij Patwardhan, 'BHUMIKA' has earned widespread appreciation for its powerful storytelling, literary depth and emotionally layered narrative. The play received immense praise from audiences, critics and theatre scholars alike for its thought-provoking exploration of human values, morality and the psychological complexities of an actor caught between stage and reality.

Celebrated director Chandrakant Kulkarni brought the play to life with his sensitive and impactful direction, giving the production a distinctive artistic identity. Another major highlight of the play was the grand return of versatile actor Sachin Khedekar to theatre after 21 years. His commanding performance became one of the strongest pillars of the production's success.

Recently, Mumbai Theatre Guide conducted exclusive interviews with Sachin Khedekar, Kshitij Patwardhan and Chandrakant Kulkarni, where they discussed the creative journey, research, emotional depth and vision behind 'BHUMIKA'. Theatre lovers, artists and production houses are encouraged to watch these insightful conversations to truly understand the dedication and artistic effort behind this modern Marathi classic.

The play has also won 15 prestigious awards, including the renowned Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Award. Its script was released by legendary lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar, further reflecting its literary significance.
