Thespo is back with Dramabazzi, its kids' wing. This year they stage the late Badal Sircar's BEYOND THE LAND OF HATTAMALA. Thespo's summertime project with children- an intensive 5 week workshop/rehearsal process culminates in shows at Prithvi Theatre. Children between the ages of 7-11 years came together in this 'play-shop' under the guidance of Abhishek Saha. Abhishek has been actively working with children in Baroda, Ahmedabad and Bombay and this year he lead the merry band of little thespians to stage performances of this delightful play.
Quasar Thakore Padamsee (of Thespo) comments: "Badal Babu's work has always been about asking questions of our society, and this is especially true of Beyond... It is such a wonderfully idealistic tale, perfect for the kids in the workshop and the children in the audience."
The play is about Kena and Becha - two little thieves on the run. One fine morning, they find themselves in a wonderful new land where they steal in broad daylight but do not get caught! It is not money that the citizens cherish, but a treasure that is even more precious. Willl Kena and Becha uncover their secret?
