About Nandikar and Its Founder

Founded in 1960, Nandikar stands as a cornerstone of modern Indian theatre. The group has redefined Bengali stagecraft through its socially aware storytelling, ensemble performances, and extensive theatre education initiatives.

At the heart of this legacy is Rudraprasad Sengupta "actor, director, teacher, and visionary" who transformed Nandikar into an institution devoted to artistic excellence and community engagement. Under his leadership, Nandikar became synonymous with discipline, innovation, and an unwavering belief in theatre as a mirror to society.
