The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has doubled the prize money for the State drama competition and also increased play production expenses and daily allowance.
According to a release from the Minister of Cultural Affairs Adv. Ashish Shelar, "The cost of production of the play is given to the organizations participating in the state drama competition conducted by the Cultural Affairs Department after performing the play. Also, if the theatre organization performs the play at another center from the original place, the artists are given a daily allowance. The decision to double all these amounts has been taken by the Minister of Cultural Affairs. Adv. Ashish Shelar and the government decision in this regard has been issued.
"The Maharashtra State Drama Competition is organized every year by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs. Under the State Drama Competition, amateur Marathi, Hindi, music, Sanskrit, children's drama, disabled children's drama and professional drama competitions are organized. Cash prizes are awarded to the organizations and artists participating in the state drama competition. Also, the organizations participating in the competition are given drama production expenses after presenting the play. Also, if the theater organization presents a play at another centre from the original place, the artists are given a daily allowance. For the past several years, the organizations and artists participating in the state drama competition had demanded an increase in the prize money, drama production expenses and daily allowance. Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar has taken a positive decision on this demand and issued a government decision to double it.
"The benefit of the increased amounts in prize money, drama production expenses and daily allowance, etc., in the said government decision will be applicable from the 64th Maharashtra State Drama Competition starting from November 3, 2025."
